Document source description
This very unusual silver stick pin has a conical and rounded knob decorating its head and a shaft incised with a spiral line, possibly to catch the threads of the garment to prevent slipping once it was attached. It resembles a drop spindle reduced to jewelry scale. It was found in a crannog (lake dwelling) in County Galway.
