Incense Burner in the Form of a Dog
Hirado ware is known mainly for its underglaze cobalt blue on white porcelain. This incense burner also showcases a technique of making raised reliefs called ukiage—the raised chrysanthemum blossoms on the dog’s backside and hind legs utilize this technique.
