Source Description

The background of the tsuba is covered in a wave pattern. At the right, a gold dragon appears to be swimming through the water. On the reverse, part of the dragon's body can be seen at the left and a jewel surrounded by flames is at the top. Dragons are often depicted with jewels, which are taken from Buddhist belief and also related to the two tide ruling jewels controlled by the Dragon King of the sea. This is part of a mounted set.
