F T an Extract of letter to Miss Gentrude Madley C from Marjorie E. Davies,2nd Lt. e lst Gen. Med. Lab. "A" s APO 519 U.S.Army New York City, N.Y. dated February 22, 1943 A - <, C France e II You know that Milly Doane is Chief Nurse and Miss Bacon is Assistant Chief Nurse. They, too, received letters from you today, so that we had a good time getting together and exchanging notes. Mary Fraser (Black) was admitted this evening to the hospital with just a slight run down condition. Her father died a few weeks ago and I believe it was quite a shock to her as she always seemed to think so much of her daddy. Mary seems very happily married. Fran Bacon, Helen Meyer (a new lab. technician) and I spent fout days in London last week. Saw "Arsenic and Old Lace" also "Dubarry was a Lady" and enjoyed both a lot. We saw Mrs. Elcock last Saturday afternoon at the Club which she runs. She looked a little tired but was happy because she was expecting Mr. Elcock that evening. Both of them are such grand people. You knew Miss Westermann was in North Africa. None of us have even had a postcard from her. Seems awfully strange. We did hear through Charlie that she arrived safely after a little trouble which you folks probably have heard about in the States. Billy Goode and Lois Voas have heard From Bunny, also the Unit received one letter. She seems to be getting along all right but did say we were awfully lucky to be here with all the conveniences we have. Lois Voas is being married to her little seaman the 6th of March. They really are an awfully sweet couple. Major Scott, Bill Spring, Bill Hawley, Jack Degen, Michael Health, Marie Goik, Maggie Malloy, Betsy Jackson, Mary Jean Mancini, Lillian Evans, Ann Sundby, are all fine. I had a nice letter from Paul and Barhara sometime ago. They seem real happy. They had taken Daddy out for dinner and he wrote and said what a grand couple they were. Alice Olson is find and still in her same job. We heard Ruth Kohler was on a ship going to Portugal. Elsie Hugo had one letter from her. Audren Dean is the only one here who had heard from Livy Fulton and I believe that was a Chirstmas card. About us not remaining here, Miss Madley, it is still in a state of revolution; we just do not know what is going to happen so we carry on from day to day and do our best.
