Frances Bacon #70224

Extract of letter from Miss M. Annie Leitch, Dir. Nursing, Butterworth Hosp.
Grand Rapids, Mich. to Miss Patience L. Clarke, Oct. 30, 1940:
"Miss Frances Bacon, who graduated in 1937, was awarded our prize for general
proficiency. Since then she has served as staff nurse, head nurse and
supervisor in our obstetrical department, practically all of her time being
spent with the infants. She has had a post graduate course at the Boston Lying-in
Hospital and we received an excellent report of her work there. Her record at
Herman Kiefer hospital was good and she has used her knowledge of Communicable
Diseases to good advantage in watching over the babies. Only the satisfaction
of knowing that she is giving her servicessto a worthy cause could reconcile us
to her agsence. She is an exceptionally reliable person and shows remarkably good
judgment for a person of her years. Her Red Cross number is 7-0224. Unfortunately she
signed for duty with the Navy. would it be possible for you to arrange her transfer?
I felt that you could get a ruling on this matter quicker than she could.
