Extract of letter to Miss Beard from Miss Margery MacLachlan - September 24, 1943

As I wrote you sometime ago, Miss Delphine Wilde, Chief Nurse of the Kauai Unit,
warned me that it might be necessary for her to resign. Her father died very

suddenly and she feels that she should return to New York to be with her mother.
I have asked Mrs. Mary B. K. Joyce, Asst. Chief Nurse in the same unit to fill

the position. I hope this will meet with your approval.

Helen Irwin has resigned and will leave the Unit October lst. Miss Irwin has
accepted a position as nursery nurse at Kapiolani Hospital.
We have had more marriages. Vera Clark is Vera Clark Allen and will be resigning
in the near future. June DuShane Cartier and Marie Ramsey Linxwiler expect to
remain in the Units.

Miss Mabel Richardson was in Honolulu on a leave and I talked to her again about

her financial affairs. She made some promises, if she doesn't keep them, the
only thing I know to do would be to deduct the money from her pay. I would have

to inquire if we could legally do so.
