Delano the this October 15,1919. the Miss Sophia Palmer, The American Journal of Nursing, 19 Test Main Street, Rochester, New York My doar Mias Palmer: I am attaching horowith a copy of an article written by General William S Thayer, under title Nursing and the Art of Medicino. I am vory anxious indoad that this article may be published where the nurses of Amorican may rond the high tribute which Dr. Thayer han paid to the professione At first it was my hope that the Red Crossa Bureau of dagazinos might be willing to print this in full, the name month that we used it in the Red. Oross Department of the Journal. This does not scom possible, and I um accordingly writing to ank you if you will be able to find space for it in the December issue. If you would care to, please consider it our departmental material, though I should greatly appreciate it if you use it without referucoo to the fact that it has como through this office. Tho Red Oross Magazine contemplates incorporating portions of this manuscript in a tribute to Miss Delano, in thoir Decembor issue. vill this in any way limit your use of the article? We havo had some complaints lately that " far too little is being dono to honour the nurses in the war. Dr Thayer's article will also help rofute the argument that the medical profession is very inappreciative as wedl as the layman. Thanking you, I am Very traly yours, Director, Department of Nursing
