August 6, 1942 Miss Catherine S. Dover Wave Crest Convalescent Home Far Rockaway, New York My dear Miss Dover: We are indeed glad to hear from you and to have your present address. Since we should like to bring your records up-to-date, will you fill out and return to us promptly the enclosed annual address questionnaire. Even though you cannot serve with the military, I should like to tell you that we are counting on your help by way of encouraging nurses eligible for the First Reserve to apply for enrollment in the Red Cross Nursing Service. This, as you no doubt know, is the first step in an assignment for active duty with the armed forces. There is such a grave need for thousands of additional nurses to serve at this time and we are hoping therefore, that every enrolled nurse will take it upon herself to interest at least one or two nurses in enrollment and see to it that they obtain application papers from the Secretary of the Local Committee. In your area the Secretary of the Committee is Miss Marie H. Brunjes, 7 Hanover Place, Brooklyn, New York. We shall look forward to receiving your annual address questionnaire as soon as possible. Sincerely yours, Mary Beard MP/mcb Director, Nursing Service
