I C B 1 Extracted from letter from Miss Noyes to Miss Anderson, Júly 19, 1924. I had hoped to send you a cable, telling you that Miss Nelson, with Miss DuBrau would sail on the 9th of August, and reservations were made on the %ASIA" in accordancetherewith. A long distance telephone message, however has reached me from Misa Nelson, stating- that she was taken suddenly iss in the night with an acute neuritis in her arm and shoulder, which they think is due to infection from her teeth, and therefore she will not be able to sail on that date. Miss DuBrau, however, will go, and it may be possible for Miss Nelson to follow on the text steamer, which sails on the 9th of September. It is most disapointing, and I think Miss Nelson is greatly upset by it, for she had not only set her heart upon going to Constantinople, but is disappointed because + 5 of the disturbance to the general plans. It is just possible that she may never be able to go, but I do not like to think of this, for I think she is so woll qualified for the work out there, that I should like to see her succeed you. Miss DuBrau is a woman of considerable experience, and in case Misa Nelson is not able to go may be able to assume the Directorship. I have been a little puzzled about the salaries for we have had no information on this since the orginal schedule was prepared. In February, 1923, I asked for a revised schedule, but I think you must have overlooked it, and I certainly forgot to again remind you so that have used the old salary scale when I negotiated with both Miss Nekson and Miss DuBrau, that is $200,00 per month for Miss Nelson, $150.00 dor Miss DuBrau, with $110.00 fot the second assistant, Thinking that perhaps Miss BuBrau would like to nominate some one for this with whom she was accustomed to working, or that Miss Nelson might have someone in mind, I wrote to them asking if they cared to suggest a nurse for this position, so that I have not corresponded with Miss Von Kurowsky of Miss Crowling. I am enclosing a record of Miss DuBrau's experience." see letter filed 502. American Hóspital. (Corres) 5 4
