Mrs. Dorothy Edson R.N., has devoted much of her time while living
at Misawa to the Red Cross Volunteer work in the School Health Program.
Approxinately one and a half years ago, I first came into the School
Health Program. At that time, Mrs. Edson aided and supported me greatly
in establishing a new program and incorporating new records on the
students.
Mrs. Edson has given her time and experience to instruct and
supervise new Red Cross workers into the School Health Program. She
has accepted the responsibility of supervising other Registered Nurses
and Red Cross Volunteers on a shot team during our mass immunization
program.
Besides the time and work Mrs. Edson gives me during our screening
and immunization programs; she also faithfully maintains the Elementary
School Health Room four hours every week. This enables me to be free
to spend time at one of the other schools.
Mrs. Edson's personality is such that it is a true pleasure to
know and work with her. From my own observations, I know she is res-
pected and has a very good relationship with administrators, teachers,
students, and fellow workers. She has showed initiative and under-
standing in all aspects of her work at the schools. She has been and,
is a great assist to me. The health program for the 1900 students we
serve would not be as well organized if it wasn't for Mrs. Edson's
willingness to spend her time to work and also, recruit other people
into the volunteer program.
