Mies Belen Scott Hay,
Savanna, Illinois.
My deer Nies Hay:
I had not realized that your insurance had
expired. Two years eem to roll by more quickly than they
used to, de they not? In that case I am sending & recommenda-
tion to the Claims Committee in favor of the third year. Then
I last saw you,you secmed so far from well that 1 am sure
should have it and I am hoping very duch that the Claims Com- you
mittee will feel it possible to continue it.
By the way 1 took my Nightingale Medal to
have a clasp put on, but the that we use
the tmo little gold prongs that are already on it, stating -
that I sm not trying to have mine affixed.
that it was too small upon which to put a safety clasp, so
Yee, I expect to leave for Louisville on
Saturday night. I rather dread it, there are 80 many big
things to be decided, and I feel almost too tired to approach
any of them. The Delano hase given us so much diffi-
culty in one way and another while 1 want to see the
question settled 1 dread the approach.
I am wondering, dear Miss Hay, if I could
ask you not to write to Miss Hinnigerode about your compenca-
tion? I think you know Sister Lucy as well as I and her
propensity for extravagant diecuesion, and I feel quite eure
that you would be pained as 1 have been by some of the things
that she hae said. She has criticized the Red Crose publicly,
for its lack of concideration for you. While I am sure that
you have said nothing to her that would indicate that you were
not pleased, etill she hae nevertheless chosen to give that
impression. Just why I cannot imagine. Plesse do not worry
about it, for we do not worry over these things, understand-
ing the situation sufficiently well to pase it over without
much thought, but I thought a"word to the wise y you know, might
help matter.
Sincerely yours,
N.H
National Director, Nursing Service.
