I e. 2. M Chapter immediately has come from Washington, in a very long letter which had juat arrived from Col Bicknell Aside from our responsi- 1 bility to the pupils who are under instruction, I can see no reason why W G should stay any longer. That is the only thing I am disturbed about, but I think we can fix it up fairly well in a month or six weeks at most. As it stands now, at Mr. Caton's request I will try to rush the classes through by Oct. 18t or there abouts, and shall then retum to the States. I can't imagine what has happened which has made you feel as you do; nothing has happened here that I know of, and not a word of anything has come to my ears to make ne feel that the Chairman is not satisfied with my work. Mr. La Salle is at all times most cordial, and as there is never a meeting of any kind I very rarely see the Chairman and then only by chance. simply from day to I go on day covering my routine work, and there is little time left for anything else. But as I shidd before, none of the men here have the slightest idea of nursing work or ideals, nor of the work involved in any kind of a nursing program I could not wire you my action, because it involved an explaination, but I hope this letter reaches you promptly, and that it will be satisfactory to you. Thak you so much, Miss Noyes , for your interest, and for all you good advice always. I appreciate it more than I can tell you. I have no plans for when I leave here, and if there is As far as I know now I shall be in Washington by about the middle of anything which you think I will fit into, I am open to engagement. Oct. I shall cable you more definitely as soon as I am more certain of the exact date. In the mean time, believe me, Faithfully yours, MA. Helenson Charlotte M. Heilman. 4 2 - J a 0
