I el Extracted from Miss Johnson's letter to M iss Noyes, Jan. 28, 1924. M " Mrs. Heilman came in on Thursday but unfortunately, 1 I had gone to a meeting at the A.I.C.P. on the possibility of S their carrying on the Bay Shore idea with that Bourne fund. I am not sure what will be done about it but I believe the fund is to be available within the next five or six months. I did go over and see Mrs. Heilman off on Saturday and she wanted me to tell you that she was not able to secure individual insurance going to one of the island possessions. She tried several of the companies but was refused in each e instance. She wanted me to know it and said she was going to write you but was afraid she would be a little dilatory about doing it as she had so much correspondance to catch up with. M She also left me, just as she was sailing, the checks for the luggage which had come back from Italy in 1919 and which the Customs had sold for charges. They bore the Red Cross stamp and she had sent them on the advice of the Personnel Office in Paris, I judge, when she expected to return with the group. She then decided to stay and apparently had not given the trunks any thought until her return. I am sorry she did not let me know about it while she was here as it would have been easier to follow it up. However, I will see what data I can get in the matter and see if there is any possibility of our recovering for her any of the amount for which it was sold. I presume the intrinsic value was not as great as the individual as she had war souvenirs and brasses and the kind of things 4 which she had purchased during her stay. I will let you know if 2 I am able to find out or do anything about it." - J J. 0
