AREA OFFICE AND 5 COMMITTEE ADVISED & MAR 3 1943 Day M September 21, 1942 AIRVAIL - SPECIAL DELIVERY Miss Mollie Kathleen Kirchgassner 1046 Ferry Street Easton, Pennsylvania K My dear Miss Kirchgassner: Your physical has been approved by our Red Cross medical advisor and we are now in a position to offer you the appointment of staff nurse with the civilian emergency hospital being set up on the Island of Kauai under the jurisdiction of the D.C.D.in the Territory of Hawaii. This position carries the salary of $110 a month, including room, two meals a day and laundering of uniforms. Your walary will start from the date you take the oath of office in San Francisco as will also the terms of employment with the O.C.D. in accordance with the notification which we are enclosing. In order to complete final arrangements for your departure, you will find detailed instructions about travel on the enclosed supplementary in- formation sheet. Please follow all instructions carefully. We are enclosing a check for $200 to cover your expenses for travel and maintenance. Please note the enclosed instructions concerning funds for traveling expenses. As we have made some changes in the general arrangements, we wish to call your attention to the new general information sheet which is also en- closed and which will supersede all, previous information. Therefore, enclosed you will find the following: 1. Advance check for $200 2. Instructions re funds for travel 3. Reimbursement agreement 4. Record of traveler's checks 6 5. New general information 6. Supplementary information 7. Insurance statement re conditions of employment as emergency Federal employee 8. Immunization form - 2 (return one, keep one, when completed.) The required immunizations are smallpox, triple typhoid and tetanus toxoid. If you have not been vaccinated recently for smallpox, it would be wise to have a repeat vaccination. You should begin these immunizations at once as the tetanus and typhoid innoculations require several weeks to ad-
