    "ocrText": "July 8, 1944\nMiss Gertrude Madley\nHerman Kiefer Hospital\nDetroit 2, Michigan\nDear Gertrude:\nI have just returned from my vacation and your letter of\nJuly 4 was awaiting me. I am delighted to have the copy of your\narticle which appeared in the bulletin of the American Association of\nNurse Anesthetists. It is very interesting and I am putting it in\nthe collection of material about the unit.\nI was not here when Miss Beard returned from her very short\nvisit in England so I did not have a first-hand account. I know that\nshe must have seen a good many people, many of whom were connected\nwith the unit, and if she has any news of her visit later, I shall\ncertainly send it on to you.\nI did not know about Bernice Wilbur's marriage. Miss Beard\nis away in New Hampshire now and I hope will stay there for the re-\nmainder of the hot weather.\nThe news you give me of the unit is interesting.
