R. 1\nCo m stock Park, Michigan\nMy dear Miss McFarland:\nI was so glad to hear from you that you are going to be able\nto continue with your plans for going to Hawaii. September 15 is the date\non which we would like you to be in San Francisco. Sometimes the trans-\nportation to Hawaii is delayed, but we cannot predict how long this will\nbe. You take your Oath of Office the day you arrive in San Francisco, on\nwhich day your salary begins, and, of course, your expenses are paid while\nthere.\nI hope you realize that in Hawaii the anesthetists have very\nlittle to do except in the case of emergency, and, therefore, must be willing\nto do general duty or whatever seems to be the thing needed to be done at\nthat time.\nWe will send your check for $300.00 in a few days, but I think it\nwise for you to make your reservations for travel at once.\nI hope that you will enjoy your trip across the continent and your\nservice in the Hawaiian Islands.\nSincerely yours,\n(Mrs.) George T.
