Dear Miss Beard:
e
Although I have been with
the O.C.D. since October,1942, I still feel
that I am part of the Red Cross and wish to
come to you with my problems.
Recently Dr Arnold confirmed
what we long had had rumors of - that the Sacred
Hearts Hospital was to be closed. I have been
night supervisor here for almost two years, and
hope I have done satisfactory work. My health
has been excellent, not having lost a day due to
illness.
My problem is this: I do not wish
to go back home as long as the war lasts, but
neither do I care to join the staff of a private
hospital for the duration. If I had some assurance
that I would have the opportunity to move on with
the Red Cross to any advance post in the Pacific
that might be established, I would be more than
willing to continue on here until that time came.
If such a post is not contemplated, would there be
I an opportunity for duty in some other field? How-
ever I would like to move on toward the Orient if
possible. In addition to my nursing, I have had
library experience and am a fair typist.
I have enjoyed working with the
Red Cross and feel that you have been more than
fair in all of your dealings with the nurses here.
Sincerely yours,
Helen menutt
