Miss Minnigerode possessed many rare and unusual qualities - quickwitted she en-
livened any group of which she formed a part, possessing a retentive memory and a
keen sense of humor, she was always ready with a good story. A lover of plants, of
flowers and birds she enjoyed to the uttermost her home in Virginia, the state of her
birth, where she spent her summers. When spending part of a summer with Miss
Minnigerode, knowing my interest in birds, one morning at daybreak I was called
by her to look down from an upper porch into a nest of young doves that had hatched
during the night.
Although in poor health for several years, Miss Minnigerode displaying wonder-
her condition
ful courage, did not allow to interfare with her work, therefore it seemed fitting
among
which
that the end should come in her garden where the spring flowers were making their
appearance. She was buried in the historic demetery in Middleburg where many members
of her family had preceded her. It would well be said of her - "Well done thou
good and faithful servant."
