THE AMERICAN RED CROSS COMMISSION TO SIBERIA Vladivostok August 1 1919 To: Miss Clara D. Noyes Acting Director Department of Nursing The American Red Cross Washington, D.C. From: Department of Nursing Eastern Division, Siberian Commission Re: ELIZABETH GERTRUDE WILSON, A.R.C. Nurse 26516 I have had occasion to suspect Miss Elizabeth Wilson of partaking of liquor recently, but the suspicion has not been suffi- ciently substantiated to cause the Department of Nursing to feel that it is justified in returning her to the States. She has confessed to me that she drank while enroute, and has told me that she made a statement to this effect to Major Emerson on arrival in Vladivostok. Miss Wilson claims that most of the other nurses on the boat took liquor also. I have questioned Miss Webster, Nurses Aid, who is a fine type of woman, and she states very frankly that in this Miss Wilson is correct. She said that light wine was served at dinner, and most of the nurses partook. She thinks that Miss Wilson did not become intoxicated. Her cabin was next to Miss Wilson's. Anna L. Tittman Chief Nurse, Eastern Division Siberian Commission ALT-H A. R. C.
