"Verche Udinek, Siberia My dear Miss Harrington:- I am writing this to request my resignation from the American Red Cross, as I wish to be married on New Year's Day. I have tried to think it all out carefully, and have fully made up my mind. Begging you to please consider my request favorably, Lednove me Sincerely, ( Signed ) Hazel Bruner." COPY OF MISS HARRINGTON'S LETTER TO MISS BRUNER "Irkutsk, Siberia December 19, 1919. To: Miss Hazel Bruner, c/o A.R.C. Hospital Verchne Udinsk, Siboria From: Acting Chief Nurse, Central Division Subj: DISMISSAL FROM A. R. C. SERVICE Your telegram asking for your dismissal from A. R. C. service to be married January 1st, received. You no doubt by this time have received a cable from the Executive Committee which reads as follows: "COMMANDING OFFICER AMREDGROSS HOSPITAL VERCHNE UDINSK INFORM HAZEL BRUNER EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE CANNOT RELEASE FROM CONTRACT BY GIVING DISMISSAL FOR REASONS OFFERED. IF CONTRACT BROKEN BY HER SHE FORFEITS PASSAGE TO AMERICA." (See A.R.C. 702 "Information for Nurses Called Upon For Active Service"). We regret losing from our forces one who has been 30 valuable in the developing of our activities in Siberia (Signed) GRACE HARRINGTON Acting Chief Nurse Central Division, A.R.C.
