Form 222
THE AMERICAN RED CROSS
NATIONAL HEADQUARTERS
To Miss Noyes
Date
November 14, 1928.
From Miss Butler
Subject

In accordance with your request, we forwarded to
Miss Christine M. Nuno on November 9, by registered mail, her
original appointment card and gold badge as a Red Cross nurse.
We did not send an explanatory letter with the credentials
as I was under the impression that you wanted to write that
yourself.
*
In .connection with the replacement of Miss Nuno's
folder in our active files, Mrs. Rupertus has just called my
attention to a fact which I doubt if you knew.
You will probably remember that you gave Miss Johnson
permission to retain Miss Nuno's #2 card in her file instead of
returning it to this office when her enrollment was suspended.
Miss Johnson has evidently not recognized the action taken by
this office as we find that annual address questionnaires
re
sent Miss Nuno by Miss Johnson and completed by the former in
April 1926 and April 1928. We do not find one on file completed
in 1927.
The question now to be decided is whether we shall follow
our usual procedure of transfer for nurses located indefinitely
outside of the United States, in Miss Nuno's case. As you know, it
is our custom to request the #2 card of every nurse located in a
foreign country where we have no Committee on Red Cross Nursing
Service, from the Local Committee with which it is on file and placs
it in her folder here at Headquarters until such time as she returns
to the States, when the #2 card is again filed wit the Local Com-
mittee in the jurisdiction of which she locates. In other words,
the nurse is transferred to National Headquarters during the period
of her stay in the foreign country.
We did not dare write to Miss Johnson about this until I
had consulted you and will be very glad of your advice on the
subject.
Very truly yours,
Lun 7 Buile
Ida F. Butler.
