Z CL Extracted from letter from Mrs. Heilman to Miss Noyes, July 12, 1923. " I sent you, attached to the reports of each nurse a report of the financial settle- ment made with esch nurse. All except Miss Nuno were released, with travel allowance s back to the place of enrollment. The transportation of Nóss Nuno is assumed by the A.W.H. The reason why the return transportation was paid to the other nurses who went with the AWH is that they went over to the AWH after their release settlement was M completed with the ARC. They are not on deferred sailings, but can remain in Europe e as long as they choose. They have the money allowed for the return transportation, and have to make their own arrangements. The Financial Department here atated that this was in accordance with instructions from Washington. Those who go as far as New York were also paid an allowance to cover three weeks travel time to America while those who go beyond New York must report in Washington where they will recieve the three weeks travel allowance. I trded to make all this chear on the papers of each nurse. Miss Nuno and Dr. Elliott have been away practically ever since she went over to the AWH. They have had a ship at their disposal, and have made a tour of all their activities on the Islands. They returned yesterday, I believe. I very rarely see Miss Nuno I have invited her to lunch or dinner several times with other nurses and I had a party for all the ARC personnel before they left, but Miss Nuno always seems to have another engagement." see letter filed 512.
