N +i ve May 27, 1931. Miss Christine M. Nuno, St. Luke's Hospital, Tokyo, Japan. My dear Miss Nuno: Thank you very much for sending the program of the first general meeting of the Japanese Nurses' Associa- tion. By this time it is well in the background. I presume you could not break way entirely from the Japanese Red Cross Society, for I notice that you held the meeting at the Assembly Hall of that organization, and that you also had a speech by the Home Minister, whoever he may happen to be. Also, that- two doctors were worked in on lectures. dowever, taking it straight through it is a step apparently in the right direction, and at least something is started toward a National Association in which the government is in the hands of nurses. I regret to state that I am flat on my back, and have been for the last week or ten days with E most painful and disagreeable attack of cystitus. I am much better now, how- ever, and hope to be able to sail on June 13, for the dedication of the American Nurses' Memorial, and the Weeting of the Board of Directors of the International Council of Nurses. Pleasa congratulate Miss Hagiwaré and tell her that I shall report on the progress that is being made by the Associatic at the Board Meeting, and that I hope everything will be in good shape for their acceptance at the next Congress. Mith best wishes, I am as always Very sincerely yours, n.h National Director, Nursing Service. 2
