N CL November 7, 1930 miss Christine M. Nuno, St. Luke's International Hospital, Tokyo, Japan. My dear Miss Nuno: Your letters of September 17, and 27, reached this office in due course of time. I was very gla to hear about your trip, and especially of your life on board the ship - what a wond rful exporience. TiYe sea is a beautiful place when it is calm, but how ugly it can be when it is disturbed by a storm. I nas very glad, indeed, to receive the message from Miss Mathews, and also to hear about your visit with Gertrude Hosmer. I am glad that Miss Aathews, as well as Miss Hosmer, are connected with an interesting piede of work. Miss dathews is a dear and worthy of the best that can come to her. How 1 should love to visit the countries that you have just had the privilege of passing through. Perhaps I may be able to do so at sometime in the future, but at present it looks highly problematical. I will leave the question of the selection of pearls to zug, and if the price does not exceed fifteen or twenty dollars, buy them and send them to me, and I will then mail you a check. kour second letter, telling ne that you had reached Tokyo, and that you had made some progress on the subject of the new Nursing Association gave me just the information I desired. I have already had a copy of this made and sent to Miss Reimann, as she should be kept in close touch with what is happaning in Japan as well as Korem. By the way, you will be intera. ted to hear that I am attending a reception this afte noon in honor of Prince Tokugawa, the President of the Japanese Red Cross. He is here in this country, I prosume enroite to Tokyo from the International Conference. If the essoci tion is formed on an individual membership basis, or on the admission of Alumnae B the unit, would not the Associ tion receive in due course of time adequate funds for the maintenance of the organisation, as well as to pay dues to the I.C.N. in case they apply and are admitted? I should feel very sorry not to see the Association admit foreign nurses, for we do not draw the line in this country - nurses of all ne tionalities, provided they are 2
