AIR MAIL
My dear Mrs. Vaughan:
I am extremely sorry that the developments in the war sit-
uation made it necessary for Miss Beard to call a meeting of her
Nursing Advisory Committee for Saturday morning and she felt that
since we are calling together on short notice so many people it would
not be possible for the members of our own group to be out in the field.
I was looking forward with keen anticipation to visiting Minnesota and
meeting you again.
Yesterday I talked with Miss Beard concerning the appointment
of Miss Olivia Peterson as Chairman of Disaster Nursing. Miss Beard
said that she had made no such appointment and was at a loss to under-
stand how Miss Peterson could have gotten such an impression. For
your information, we are enclosing a copy of Miss Beard's letter ap-
pointing Miss Beterson a member of the State Committee on Red Cross
Nursing.
I do appreciate very much the invitation of the State Com-
mittee to speak at their dinner meeting and sincerely regret that con-
ditions have made it impossible for me to attend.
With very kindest regards, I am
Cordially yours,
Helen F. Dunn
Assistant Director
