OLIVER ii, C. File BOSTON, May 12, 1920. SECOND DEPUTY RECEIVED MAY 1 31920 ferred to Miss Clara D. Noyes, Director of Nurses, The American Red Cross, Washington, D. C. Dear Madam: This department is in receipt of an appli- cation for the $100. gratuity payable under the provisions of Chapter 283, General Acts, 1919. Will you kindly inform this department the date in 1918 Miss Smythe was discharged from the Ameri- can Red Cross for the purpose of becoming a mem- ber of the Army Nurse Corps. We are enclosing herewith a copy of a let- ter which we are today sending Miss Julia C. Stimson, Superintendent, Army Nurse Corps which we believe will explain fully the difficulty which Miss Smythe is having in obtaining her $100. gratuity. Any assistance that you may be able to fur- nish in this matter would be greatly appreciated. Yours very truly, Treasurer and Receiver-General WUF-MM gred out
