June 19, 1934. Miss Helen Teal, 1227 Circle Tower, Indianapolis, Ind. My dear Miss Teal: In looking through the cards indicating the nurses to whom capes have been issued, we find that on September 11, 1922 a cape was issued to you, and on April 17, 1931 you were given permission to retain the cape as you were on special duty. Is the cape still in your possession, and how, about sending it in to this office? Our stock of capes is rather low, and we are calling in the capes which have been issued and are no longer in use, so that we may have them repaired, cleaned, and placed in stock for the many demands made upon them, especially in the spring for Jane A. Delano Week and Memorial Day, and in the fall for Armistice Day, etc. Please let us hear from you as to how you feel about returning your cape. Sincerely yours, Ida F. Butler, Assistant Director of Nursing, National Headquarters. IFB/AWH July 1934 - Miss Butler received a personal letter from Miss Teal saying that she would return the cape but could not do so until she went home and got it out of a box where it is packed. Miss Butler has suggested that we do not follow this up again as Miss Teal will return the cape when she can. cape of 2 brassards reed 9/10/34
