September 5, 1938 Mrs. Sena M. Tippen Baldwin Wisconsin My dear Mrs. Tippens Miss Marion A. Backus, Secretary of our Minneapolis Local Committee, has sent us your address questionnaire completed on July 31st, calling our attention to your note on the back of the form. We are of course sorry that you are no longer available for any type of active service under the Red Cross but are pleased to be able to advise you that you do not have to give up your enroll- ment and return your appointment card and badge for this reason. Enclosed is a copy of our pamphlet, ARC 703, in which we have marked certain paragraphs on page 7 which explain our present method of classifying our entire enrollment into three reserves. In view of the information you have given us we are now classify- ing you in the third reserve which is an inactive classification. Your records will be taken out of our active files and you will not be requested to fill in annual questionnaires but you will have the privilege of retaining your enrollment and your appoint- ment card and badge. Then, if at some time in the future circum- stances so change that you wish to again be numbered among our active nurses, we will be pleased to have you request reinstate- ment to an active classification. Trusting we have made this clear and with best wishes, believe me Sincerely yours, Ida F. Butler Director of Nursing MR-ec
