Ext. from letter from Miss Hay, Paris, to Miss Noyes, 1-4-22:
"As stated to you I was distressed over the fact that for the mo-
ment there seemed no assignment available for Miss Torrance. The serious
state of the Baltic budget allowing for no additional personnel whatever.
Telegram has just geen received from Miss Besom asking that Miss Torrance
be sent there to assist in place of Miss Thrasher, who has been taken ill."
