WOMAN'S BUREAU EX OFFICIO BUREAU OF ACCOUNTING WILLIAM HOWARD TAFT ELIOT WADSWORTH BUREAU OF PUBLICITY Chicago, Ills Nursing Service, January 29, 1918 Miss Jane A. Delano, Red Cross Headquarters Washington, D. C. My dear Miss Delano:- I am enclosing a letter which I have just received from Miss Daisy Urch, Chief nurse of Unit #12. It seems to me that she is in need of our assistance. I feel terribly sorry for her as she seems to have no redress whatsoever. If the nurses only had a proper rank, I do not think this kind of thing would happen. I know you will do everything in your power for her, for iI feel she needs help immediately. It was very delightful to have a chat with Miss Noyes. She has cleared up many difficulties in our minds, and I think we will be able to work more intelligently from now on in recruiting nurses for the Red Cross. I do hope we can get a large number of them. Rest assured I will do all in my power to increase the enrollment. With best wishes, I am Yours very truly, Ellen r.
