Princeton, New Jersey
My dear Mrs. Whyte:
The enclosed check for fifty-three dollars and twonty-five
cents ($53.25) is the final alloment check which the American
Red Cross will issue to Miss Catherine L. Whyte and reprazents
the $45 allotment for the period July 1-31 and $8.25 for 56 days
ancrued leave. Since July 31 Catherine Whyte and the ro-
meinder of the nursos who ware transforred to the Army Nurse Corps
on that date, are notlonger Red Cross employees but are now under
the jurisdiction of the U.S. Army and subsequent salary checks will
be issued by the U.S. Government. Whatever arrangemente are being
made by the Government for sending portions of salary checks to
relatives on the mainland will have to be learned through the nurses
themselves.
We regret that there has been so great a delay in getting this
settlement check to you.
Sincerely yours,
