Sir:
( Through the Medical Officeein Charge)
I have the honor to call to your attention the following incident
for the reason that through you an investigation may be made to dis-
cover the person who used my name falsely in sending an official com-
munication direct to the Bureau.
On January 5,1922, the Medical Officer in Carge at Arrowhead Springs
Came to my office and remarked as he handed me the following telegram,
"You know more about this than I do, Miss Wrigley:"

DATED WASHINGTON, D.C. JANUARY 5,1922.
TO ALLEN:
U.S.P.H.S.HosPITAL NO.54,
ARROWHEAD SPRINGS, CALIFORNIA.
RESIGNATION NURSE WRIGLEY RECEIVED DIRECT EFFECTIVE
JANUARY FIVE IF YOU APPROVE HER RELEASE JANUARY FIFTH WIRE YOUR
APPROVAL TO BUREAU.
LAVINDER".
That I had no knowledge of this was evident to Dr.Allen who
immediately returned the following telegram to the Bureau:
DATED ARROWHEAD SPRINGS, CALIFORNIA,
JANUARY 1922.
TO CUMMING,
U.S.PUBLIC HEALTH SERVICE
WASHINGTON, D.C.
RE TEL LAVINDER CHIEF NURSE WRIGLEY STATES SHE HAS NOT
TENDERED RESIGNATION AND HAS NO INTENTION OF DOING so REQUEST COPY OF
SUPPOSED RESIGNATION.
ALLEN.
In addition to this, with the knowledge and approval of the Medical
Officer in Charge, I wrote a letter and sent the personal telegram as
follows:
