G. Service Badges for women who had rendered a minimum of 400 hours
of service and had done exceptional work in chapters or divisions where no op-
portunity was given for longer service. This badge, identical with the general
workers' badge except for its ribbon, was intended for women living in rural
communities or employed women in cities. 1
H. Service Stripes to be worn on Red Cross uniforms for each six
months of continuous service during the period April 6, 1917 to November 11,
1919. (A service stripe on the left sleeve of the coat or shirt of the same
kind and under the same conditions as that given to members of the United
States Army for service in Europe was provided in Special Regulation No. 61
of the War Department.2²
I. National Emergency Certificates to be awarded those who had
rendered service during the influenza epidemic and other great national emer-
gencies. 3
NOTE. These badges, buttons bars, and certificates were to be the
only awards for which persons who did not die in the service of the Red Cross
were eligible, except members of the War Council and foreigners. (See page 5.)
