This audio recording, created by the White House Communications Agency (WHCA), contains radio communications from onboard the Air Force One (AF-1) flight that carried President John F. Kennedy's body back to Washington, DC following his assassination. The tape is labeled "Radio Traffic involving AF-1 in flight from Dallas, Texas to Andrews AFB on November 22, 1963" and is marked for "General Clifton." It captures conversations between the aircraft and the White House Situation Room, as well as other locations in the immediate wake of the assassination. The topics discussed include the President's assassination; the wounding of Governor John Connolly of Texas; disposition of the President's body (where it should be taken, how it should be removed and transported from the plane); arrangements for Jacqueline Kennedy following touchdown in Washington; the President's autopsy; arrangements for limousines, ambulances, etc.; and other topics.
