THE WHITE HOUSE
WASHINGTON
August 14, 1947
fle
My dear Mrs. Roosevelt:
You don't know how very much I appreciated
your beautiful letter of sympathy dated August
ninth.
Of course, just as you say, we always feel
somewhat lost after an experience of the sort
through which we have just gone, but we have
to adjust ourselves according to the situation
as we find it.
The sympathy of our friends is one of the things
that makes it bearable.
I certainly appreciate your writing me as you
did.
Singerely yours,
Mrs. Franklin D Roosevelt
