THE WHITE HOUSE
WASHINGTON
to
September 2, 1950
Dear Mrs. Roosevelt:
I was happy to read a tribute to you
in the August 1950 READER'S DIGEST. Belatedly,
I send congratulations not only on this appre-
ciation by Frances ilhiting but because the
DIGEST consented to include it at all. That
was surprising in a reactionary publication
which looks backward with nostalgia to the
good old days when the law of tooth and claw
ruled.
Very sincerely yours,
Mrs. Franklin D. Roosevelt,
Val-Kill Cottage,
Hyde Park, New York.
