HST-124 Truman,,IV. THE WHITE HOUSE WASHINGTON March 30, 1951 My dear Mrs. Roosevelt: I am distressed beyond measure by the unqualified falsity of statements in an article in the current issue of COSMOPOLITAN regarding my senti- ments toward you and all the members of the Roosevelt family, not ghitting even calumnious statements con- cerning my attitude toward my lamented predecessor. An the face of all this false witness, this perjured, Vevidence, I cannot restrain the impulse to write you this assurance that the entire article is a tissue of lies, a willful distortion of truth and fact. In my heart I feel that this disclaimer in toto on my part is unnecessary but I shall feel better for having written to you. With highest esteem and respect, Faithfully, development Mrs. Franklin D. Roosevelt, Val-Kill Cottage, Hyde Park, New York.
