SISTER CATHERINE
Sister Catherine, to whom the Blessed Vir-
gin entrusted the Miraculous Medal, was Zoë
Labouré, a peasant maiden of Fain-les-Mou-
tiers in France. A tender devotion to Mary
Immaculate marked her earliest years; even
as a child the sorrow of her mother's death
was sweetened by the pious thought that "it
seemed as though the Blessed Virgin wanted
to be my Mother."
Though Zoë did not make public her desire
for the religious life, yet it could be plainly
perceived in her earnest practice of virtue, in
her delight to visit the Daughters of Charity,
and, above all, in her eagerness to attend

MANIFESTATION OF THE MEDAL
The apparitions which concerned the Medal
were all very much alike; their nature, there-
fore, may be learned from a summary of Sister
Catherine's account of the heavenly visitation
which she received on November 27th:
"The Blessed Virgin was standing on a
globe, and her face was beautiful beyond
words. Her fingers were covered with prec-
ious jewels whose light dazzled me. And I
heard: 'Behold the symbol of the graces I
shed upon those who ask for them!' Then an
oval frame formed around the Blessed Virgin
and I read in letters of gold: O Mary, Con-
ceived without sin, pray for us who have
recourse to thee. The vision reversed, and I
beheld the letter 'M' surmounted by a cross,
at the foot of the cross a bar, and below all

Mary's hands are filled with graces first of all
because Jesus merited them, and,
because Mary was made worthy to distribu
them by her participation in His sorrows and

THE SORROWFUL SIDE OF THE MEDAL
When Sister Catherine related her vision to
her confessor, he asked her whether she had
seen any writing on the back of the Medal.
She answered that she had seen none at all.
"Ah!" said the good priest, "ask the Ble ed
Virgin what to put there." The Sister obe d,

of the finest of Mary's shrines in this country.
One priest wrote after the dedication: "I have

sheer beauty it goes beyond one's wildest flights
of hope or fancy."
Novena devotions are held regularly each

Dear Mr. President:
It gives me great pleasure to autograph and present
to you this copy of the second edition of my book entitled, "The Layman's
Legal Guide."
You will notice that I have incorporated portions of
those of your acts which were in effect at the time of final preparation
of this edition. The large distribution of this book makes frequent
new editions possible and I am in hopes to be in a position to more closely
follow the workings of these great reconstruction measures for my subse-
quent editions, as I feel a great deal of good can be accomplished by
placing the laws before our people.
It affords me pleasure, also, to permit this work to
be reproduced in Braille for the use of our blind citizens.
With wishes that you may be able to administer these
great measures with increasing benefit to all, I beg to remain,
Sincerely,

SAN DIEGO, CALIFORNIA June 17th, 1933
To the honerable Franklic D. Roosevelt,
the president of these United States:
I want to thank you for the letters you and your secretary sent me
last February, in reply to by latter and the literature I sent you.
Also I wish to say I am more than pleased and thank you for the
statesman like way you have conducted our governmental affairs in the
short time you have been our president, EXCEPT, that it seems, from re-
ports in the papers, that you MAY sign and thus cause to become law, the
Glass-Steagall, bank-reform, (so-called) bill, and by SO doing countanene
and perpetuate our present nefarious "people-be-damned, private corpora-
tion banking system, that, because I am 74 years old, and my grandfather
and father as well is myself, having been lawmakers, I have had the op-
pertunity to, and HAVE learned and KNOW, as of course YOU know the preset
system of banking, together with the private corporation issue, sale and
manipulation of stocks, has litterally robbed our people of more wealth
than the phisical property of these United States would sell for at to-
day's ruling preces.
You may remember that in 1908 Thomas W. Lawson said of the Wall Stret
private corporation banks and other stock manipulatings that they were
"the most despisable bank of pillaging pirates man's immagination has
painted with brush ot pen, the meanest of thieves."
When, by the issue of stock, a "few men" can get the money from Tom,
Dick, Harry and Lucy,-the general public, to purchase government bonds,
collarteral security, for our government,-congress and our presidents, all
of them, and YOU if you sign the Glass bill and so perpuate the "system",
has, and will continue to GIVE BILLIONS of dollars of currency, to say
nothing of MORE billions of money deposited with these banks that has
been knxt invested in worthless "securities" and lost "more than 25 bil-
lions" a newspaper item said yesterday.
I wrote a book in 1910, that I am sending to you. I desire very much
that you, and Mrs Roosevelt read it together in your home. It will intro-
duce me to you-you will know of my desire to serve my fellow-men- my
desire to gailWheaven and avoid the "fire and brimstone hell" that Jesus
Christ tells about, "prepared for the devil and his angels." I also urge
you ro read the25th chapter of Leviticus, where the God of the universe
told Moses to frame a law for the Israelites, providing that ALL debts
MUST be canceled every fifty years. God certainly did this because HE
KNOWS that the continued payment of interest ALONE,-even without the is-
sue of stark and speculation in stocks- will destroy any government.
Our former, Western border, free land outlet is what has saved our
ship of state from becoming a total wreck for the 150 years of our nation-
al life; but we no longer have a free land outlet, therefore we ARE eithe
at the end of private corporation banking and other corporation stock
gambling, populace-robbing, or we are dangerously near the end of our
bosted modern civilation.

preparing for publication. Besides what I copy here, regarding banks, Mr.
president, YOU have the power, that NO other president has ever had, to

corperation stocks.

(Excerpts from my M.S.)
"President Roosevelt now has the power and authority to remove. the re-
striction of $2500. that may be deposited in a "postal savings account',
and grant to depositors the privilege of Shecking against such deposits.
"I am going to predict that when the president gets rid of the present
session of congress, that this IS exactly what he WILL do, for the fol-
lowing Feraons:
"It will bring out and put into the national treasury, the millions of
hoarded money, which, with a checking privilege, will add hundreds of
millions to our circulating medium, for with this money the government
can refinance farm and home mortgages, now held by the banks, wb.
who could, and would return their money to depositors, where it would im-
mediately reenter the channels of trade THROUGH government postalsavings.
checking- accounts. Thus a permanent government revenue producing, revol-
ving fund will be provided.
"Without a moratoriam check being placed thereon, immediately after
the 2500. restriction has been removed for deposites in postal savings
accounts, enough money WOULD be withdrawn from ALL private dorporation
banks to cause many, if not all such banks to fail; so a holidy morator-
ium would be proclaimed, granting eo each bank an optional respite, for
a sufficient time, thus holding incheck withdrawels until such time as
their securities were taken over by the govermment.
"Last December we sent our Declaration of Principles to the legisla-
tors of all the states and the Florida legislature adopted the sixth plak
thereof, and submitted to their people for their ratification as a con-
stitutional amendment. Florida has thus taken one of the most important
forward steps in the emancipation of her citizens, that will draw many
thousands of people and hundreds of millions of dollars to add to her
prosperity- that will go far toward compleet recovery from the depression,")
In concluding Mr. president, will say, you have already proven that
you are NOT a vasilating, time-serving, bribe-taking politician. You ARE
proving that you are a REAL statesman, and we know you are NOT a coward.

ting an exorbitant interest on what THEY OWE. And, also, if they do not heed our voter's
peaceful revolution in our recent election, against the wholesale confiscation, by private corpo-
rations, of our public utilities and natural resources, we WILL have a revolution that WILL
literally "destroy our Republic."
To convince REASONING men and women that a radical change-a face-about policy
MUST be inaugurated, surely we have only to quote the unqualified declaration of three
world controlling, master minds: :
On November 21, 1864, Abraham Lincoln said he "feared the wealth would be aggre-
gated in a few hands, and our Republic would be destroyed."
On December 13, 1911, G. M. Reynolds, of the Continental Commercial Bank of Chicago,
said: "I believe the money power now lies in the hands of a dozen men."
A short time ago Montague Norman, Governor of the Bank. of England, said: "Events
are now outside the control of any man and any government and any country."
In any court of justice, the testimony of three such witnesses would be conclusive and
irrefutable. We, therefore, affirm that unless our lawmakers submit constitutional amend-
ments, as provided in our Declaration of Principles, our "Government WILL be destroyed."
You KNOW the result of the recent presidential election DEMANDS that something
SHALL be done: What ARE YOU, our legislators, going to do about it?
