Writes President about boats he has built and recalls discussion over
President's article on his ancestor, Joshua Humphreys, the designer of the U.S. ships,
"Constitution, Constellation, United States, President and the Congress". Says he has
fine old painting of the "Congress", which apparently was painted in Bay of Naples,
and if President will accept it, will send painting to him. - Refers to Tugwell Bill
and expresses opposition to it, and hopes it will not be passed in present form, and
states reasons. -- President wrote Feb. 26, stating he was delighted to receive letter
and would appreciate the painting. Re the proposed Food and Drug Act, nothing definite
has been done.

Dear Mr. McIntyre:
You may recall my talking to you, at the Burning Tree Club
two or Visao Sundays 850, about President Roosevelt's interest in stamps,
and my suggestion that perhaps he might like a book by Mr. Charles
Lathrop Pack, President of the American Tree Association, who is also
a most noted Philatelist, entitled "VICTORIA THE HALF-LENGTH AND
PORTRAITS AND THE TWOPENCE QUEEN ENTHRONED".
You told me that you were sure that President Roosevelt would
be delighted to have this publication, so I take a great deal of
pleasure $ forwarding to you to give to the President a copy of the
book with the compliments of the Author, Mr. Charles Lathrop Pack.
With best wishes,
Very sincerely yours,

but after knowing its history, I think you will agree with me that it's
quite appropriate; as it shows how many years Silver has been used for
Money.
A Japanese Coin over one thousand years old, I have been
offered all kinds of prices for it. I kept it with the idea of giving
it sometime to the place or person I would like to have it go to. I
am sending it to you with that thought in mind, and if you would carry it
as a Pocketpiece for success of your Montary program, it would make me very
happy.
I am the widow of Frank H. Pope a well known Boston man on the
Editorial Staff of the Boston Globe and at one time State Auditor of
Massachusetts, a Good Democrat, and an eloquent orator. I am an admirer
of Mrs. Roosevelt, and as the First Lady of our Country, she is setting
a wonderful example for other women to follow; if you ever see this
letter out of the thousands sent you, please pass it along to her; as I
have worked a good part of my life for many worthy causes, especially
concerning women. I have before me a New Year's Poem, I wrote for our local
paper, dedicated to you, so will enclose it in this letter with full
particulars of the Ancient Coin. "May you live long and prosper".
