Roosevelt The White House Washington, D.C. + t pr.79-w PM7450 Dear Mr. President: I am taking the liberty of sending you some still photographs of two x Spitfire r P.P. planes which my brothers and I, through charitable donations, x 249 have given to the Royal Air Force x48-a of England. The reason for your name and Cordell Hull's being x 20 - mucil painted on the side of these ships xpr7i-e is as follows: Lord Beaverbrook, in acknowledging receipt of our dona- tions, asked us to name these two Spitfires and I cabled back to use the name of our great President on one and the name of Cordell Hull on the other. I did this for I felt that you and your Secretary of State have done so much for the cause of humanity and civilization, and these two Spitfires could help carry on your work, for you and Mr. Hull really made it possible for us to give these two airplanes. I trust this meets with your approval.
