INC. ALVA. OKLAHOMA January 18, 1983 Dear Dale, Doesn't this letter head revive meny memories for all of us? He was so proud of his company and of all his associates who helped make it what it was. He was especially proud of you and of all that you have accomplished, end I think it is all wrong for you to have to retire just because you have reached a certain age for you could contribute so much more to the industry in meny years more. But they did not ask me or I would have expressed myself very much against any such policy. Not obviously" but justifiably you are very proud of Lex end so are we.We always knew Lex was exceptional even 8.5 a young boy but what he has accomplished now is even more than we had 8 right to expect. He continues to be an inspiration and through his efforts, he has given en- courggement and shared his ootimism with no telling how many who had need of that. I know he has fulfilled more than adequately the "Plan" that he felt there wes for him in this world. While he was flat of his back in the hospital in Oklahoma City, he said he knew there was 8 rea- son why he was a victim of this accident. By his own life and by the help and encouragement he has given others, he has done far more for others to have a good life then he might have done otherwise. His at- titude has been remarkeble from the very first, end he has kept the Faith. I shall share these articles with my daughters and their femilies for they are interested end impressed with Lex end his achivements. He is en in- spiration to my grendsons. After they have read them, I pm going to send them to Eleanor Vance for she is so interested in him and the wonderful work he is doing. She can return them, naturally. Dale Vence is now in Alaska for three years. He WES down this fall for a hunt and to visit. de and his friends were with me part of the time. He got off on the wrong foot for a time but he has made up for it and he is another one I am proud of. Dale is 11 Senior Electronic Systems Engineer" in the office of the Bureau of Land Management, under Mr Watts whom he does not admire very much. When David comes back to school at Sherman the last of this month, Claride is driving down with him for a short visit. She was here in Aug ust but I did not go up there this year since she and each of her sons had been with me part of the summer. Naturally I am looking forward to her visit with much pleasure. My girls and their families are wonderful to me; I could not get elong without them. They are very solicitous of my welfare and I reward them by being remarkably well, especially when you recall that I'll be 88 this summer!
