BY COUNTRY
Explanation of Databases
The information in the following databases is intended to provide an
overview of international cooperative activities in science and technology
between United States Government agencies and their counterparts in other
countries. Appendices I and II were assembled from information both on file
in the Department of State and provided it by other Federal departments and
agencies. It is as complete as this information permits.
In some cases, agreements have technically expired, but are included herein
if renewal is pending or if activities under the agreements continue.
Agreements that have been active at any time within the last reporting cycle
are included as well.
For the most part, the items listed in the databases are at the Memorandum
of Understanding (MOU) level or higher. However, information on some
additional activities is included if their significance warrents. (In some
countries there may be other activities outside of agreements described here
but included in the country narratives.)
"Country" designates the cooperating foreign nation. "Multilateral" and
"Regional" are designations assigned to activities conducted with more than
one country.
"Entry Into Force" (EIF) and "Termination Date" (Term Date) indicate start
and end times of agreements. Agreements renewed with no significant
alterations usually retain the original EIF date. Agreements with no
termination date have an indefinite term; some may have a self-renewing
to end it.
