The Chief Justice asks the Vice President if he
is prepared to take the oath. The Vice President
answers in the affirmative.
12:03 p.m.
The Chief Justice administers the oath of office.
12:05 p.m.
The Chief Justice introduces the President of
the United States. Following the introduction,
the President moves forward to the podium
and renders remarks. During the President's
remarks the Chief Justice and Mrs. Ford will
be seated.
12:15 p.m.
The President's remarks terminate. He escorts
Mrs. Ford from the East Room to the Red Room.
"Hail to the Chief" will be played during the
President's exit from the East Room. The
President will meet for approximately five
minutes with the Chief Justice and the leadership
in the Red Room. Mrs. Ford, Mrs. Burger and
the wives of the leadership will mingle outside
the Red Room.
12:20 p.m.
The leadership meeting in the Red Roombreaks
up. The President rejoins Mrs. Ford outside the
Red Room and proceeds to a position in the entrance
to the State Dining Room.
12:21 p.m.
The President and Mrs. Ford receive their
guests. The Chief Justice will be the first
through the receiving line.
12:40 p.m.
After the last guest has passed through the
receiving line, the President and Mrs. Ford
will enter the State Dining Room and mingle
with guests.
1:00 p.m.
The President and Mrs. Ford, followed by
the Ford children, depart State Dining Room
for his EOB Office.
