Digitized from Box D13 of The Ford Congressional Papers: Press Secretary and Speech File at the Gerald R. Ford Presidential Library SPEECH OF ACCEPTANCE BY REP. GERALD R. FORD,JR. UNITED STATES JUNIOR CHAMBER OF COMMERCE DINNER January 21, 1950 I am most appreciative of the opportunity to be here tonight as the result of the action taken by the Junior Chamber of Commerce. However, it is most un- fortunate that the award cannot be divided equally among all of my long-time associates in our part of Michigan. Inasmuch as most of my own civic. and community activities have been joint projects, I feel definitely that I should share this with my friends at home who have worked tire- lessly with me on behalf of the 6cmmunity Chest and its various projects, the Red Cross, and for better government. Since it is impossible to partition and divide something of this sort with those who have cooperated I humbly accept this honor on behalf of my friends and associates in Michigan.
