With this act, the Continental Army\nwas created and the Nation's military service was\nborn.\nThe Army can look with pride on its distinguished\ncontribution to our national security and defense in\nthese past two hundred years. In peace and war, the\nArmy's achievements are a credit to the millions of\ndedicated American citizens who answered the call to\narms to protect the freedom we cherish.
