THE WHITE HOUSE
WASHINGTON
St. Patrick's Day, 1975
America is rich in the traditions and cultures
of many lands, but none has blessed us more
than the wit and wisdom of Ireland. The sham-
rock and emerald green of the Irish long ago
became part of the American inheritance.
Some sixteen million Americans are of Irish
descent and on St. Patrick's Day millions more
claim to be Irish in spirit. Theirs is a gallant
and joyous spirit and we in the United States
are proud to have it in our heritage.
