MR. MINISTER, AMBASSADOR YUKAWA, FRIENDS:
MY WIFE AND I ARE HONORED AT THE THOUGHTFULNESS OF HIS
MAJESTY IN SENDING US HIS GREETINGS.
IT IS ON BEHALF OF THE
AMERICAN PEOPLE THAT I ACKNOWLEDGE THE GRACIOUS WELCOME YOU HAVE
EXTENDED.
- 2 -
ALTHOUGH OUR STOP HERE IS BRIEF, I AM PLEASED ONCE AGAIN
TO BE IN JAPAN.
- 3 -
WE REMEMBER WITH PLEASURE THE RECENT VISIT OF THEIR MAJESTIES
TO THE UNITED STATES.
AT THAT TIME THE AMERICAN PEOPLE --- IN ALL
WALKS OF LIFE, AND IN ALL PARTS OF THE COUNTRY --- DEMONSTRATED
AMERICA'S ESTEEM FOR THEIR MAJESTIES AND FOR THE JAPANESE PEOPLE.

I ASK THAT YOU EXTEND THE WARMEST GREETINGS FROM MRS. FORD,
