Office of the White House Press Secretary
NOTICE TO THE PRESS
The President today announced his intention to renominate seven persons.
They are:
Thomas G. Cody, of Maryland, to be an Assistant Secretary
of Housing and Urban Development. This is a new position.
John William Kauffman, of New Jersey, to be a member of the
Board of Regents, National Library of Medicine, Public
Health Service for a term expiring August 3, 1977. He will
succeed William O. Baker, whose term expired.
Eddie G. Smith, Jr., of the District of Columbia, to be a
member of the Board of Regents, National Library of Medicine
Public Health Service for a term expiring August 3, 1976. He
will succeed Max Michael, Jr. whose term expired.
Edward E. David, Jr., of Illinois, to be a member of the
Board of Directors of the Communications Satellite Corporation
until the date of the annual meeting of the Corporation in 1976.
He will succeed Rudolph A. Peterson whose term expired.
Robert J. Corber, of Virginia, to be a member of the Interstate
Commerce Commission for the remainder of the term expiring
December 31, 1976. He will succeed W. Donald Brewer who has
resigned.
Joseph Laitin, of Maryland, to be an Assistant Secretary of Defense.
He will succeed Jerry W. Friedheim who has resigned.
Thomas J. Meskill, of Connecticut, to be United States Circuit
Judge for the Second Circuit. He will succeed J. Joseph Smith
who has retired.
These nominees failed to receive confirmation by the Senate
during the 93rd Congress, 2nd Session.
