NOTICE TO THE PRESS
The President today announced the appointment of two persons as members
of the Advisory Commission on Intergovernmental Relations for terms of
two years. They are:
Governor Daniel J. Evans, of Washington.
This is a reappointment.
Governor Otis R. Bowen, of Indiana.
He succeeds Governor Robert D. Ray whose
term has expired.
The Commission was established by Public Law 86-380 of September 24, 1959
and consists of 26 members serving terms of two years. Of the 26 members,
20 are appointed by the President, 3 by the President of the Senate, and 3
by the Speaker of the House.
The purpose of the Commission is to maintain a continuing review of the
operation of the Federal system and make recommendations for improvements.
