NOTICE TO THE PRESS
The President has signed S. 2830--For the relief of Gary A. Broyles. This
bill provides $120, 000 to Gary A. Broyles as compensation for permanent
injuries he suffered at a United States Army Hospital.
S. 2830 will authorize the Secretary of the Treasury to pay Gary A. Broyles
the sum of $120, 000 in full settlement and satisfaction of all his claims against
the United States for compensation for permanent personal injuries suffered
by him as a result of the surgical procedures performed at the United States
Army Hospital, Fort Sill, Oklahoma, on January 27, 1965. The bill will
place a 10 percent ceiling of the amount paid in settlement of this claimon
any attorney fees paid in connection with this claim.
The President has signed S. 1787--Relief of Maria Lisa R. Manalo and
Rogena R. Manalo; S. 2668--Relief of Arturo Moreno Hernandez; S. 2770--
Relief of Anthony Augustus Daley and Beverly Evelyn Daley; and S. 2956--
Relief of Teresa Marie Salman. This bill facilitates the admission of certain
alien children into the United States.
These bills will classify or permit classification of the beneficiary alien
children as immediate relatives of either U. S. citizens or permanent resident
aliens, thereby authorizing preferential treatment under immigration law,
and facifitating their admission to the United States. Each of the bills will
also make the children's natural parents and siblings ineligible for preferential
treatment under immigration law by virtue of their relationship to the
beneficiaries.
The President has signed S. 2481--Relief of Oscar Rene Hernandez Rustrian.
This bill facilitates granting permanent resident immigration status to the
adopted alien son of permanent residents of the United States.
The President has signed S. 1404--Relief of Mrs. Kyong Chu Stout; and S.
1477--Relief of Beatrice Serrano-Toledo. These bills will enable the
beneficiaries, both alien widows of U. S. citizens, to remain in the
United States by reinstating their former immigration classification of
immediate relatives of U. S. citizens, thereby making them eligible for
immigrant visas.
The President has signed S. 3095--Gold Labeling Act of 1976. This bill
reduces permissible deviations in the manufacture of articles made in
whole or in part of gold.
The bill will amend the National Gold and Silver Stamping Act of 1906
to reduce permissible tolerance levels applicable to the manufacture of
articles shipped in interstate commerce made in whole or in part of gold.
